This photograph was captured shortly after a solar storm in late September, in Fairbanks, Alaska, where I work as an SCA Digital Media Intern with the National Park Service. This night in particular was special because the aurora was out in full force right over the city of Fairbanks. Luckily, was able to walk just a few minutes to Creamer's Field State Migratory Bird Refuge to see this amazing sight and compose this photo.
Note: It was important to me to capture a self-portrait because I wanted to share not just the sight itself (which was impressive), but also the feeling of wonder that I had while viewing this spectacular sight.
